Advantages of an NCBI Account

Creating an NCBI account in PubMed will allow you to:

  • save searches
  • set up alerts to periodically rerun saved searches
  • save results to personalized collections
  • create and save personalized filters
  • personalize result settings

How to Create an NCBI Account

To Create an Account

From PubMed home page, click on Log in (upper right)

On the next page, scroll down to the bottom and click on "New here? Sign up"

Choose one of the suggested options (Microsoft, Google, Orcid) as a 3rd party sign in or click 'More Sign up Options' (at the bottom) to sign in with your Auburn University credentials. 

Complete the requested fields and click Sign Up.

You should receive a message that your account has been created.

You will receive an email from NCBI, you must click on the link in order to have full functionality of your account.

Changing Settings

Once you have an account, to enable Auburn LIbraries:

Sign into your NCBI account.

Click on your username, then on Dashboard

Click on NCBI Site Preferences

  • Click on "Outside tool" (under PubMed Preferences)
  • Scroll down, click on Auburn University Libraries and then Save.

PubMed will recognize you are affiliated with Auburn University Libraries when you are signed into your account.
