Administrative Codes

Finally, once a bill has been passed into law and incorporated into codes or statutes, the government, whether federal or state, normally needs to provide instructions in how to implement the law or to administer it or apply it.  This is normally done through the publication of administrative codes or regulations.

On the federal level, this consists of the Code of Federal Regulations (updated annually).  In the meantime, updates and proposed rule changes (and more) appear in the Federal Register (updated daily) and these, in turn, appear in the List of Sections Affected (updated monthly).

Regulations or administrative codes are also produced on the state level and while they vary considerably, they are analagous, in many cases, to the federal structure described above.
