Welcome

   The purpose of this guide is to assist researchers seeking basic court case information on the federal and state court system levels.  Please be aware that Auburn University does not have a law school, so the resources and commentary provided in this guide are not as extensive as possible.

   The court system structure and the variety of courts can be confusing.  An extremely basic description is to note that both federal and state courts are of three main types:  trial courts, appellate courts, and then final appellate (supreme) courts.  To better understand the structure and variety of court systems, please consult the following web sites:
