This LibGuide provides will help direct your for your class assignments in COMM3100.

General Information

Ralph Brown Draughon Library (RBD) is the main library on campus and serves the students and faculty of Auburn University It offers:

  • Group and individual study rooms
  • Quiet study on the 4th floor and a quiet room on 2nd floor (near the Panera Bread)
  • The AU Bookstore's Study Essentials (2nd) for snacks, drinks, and supplies
  • Snack machines are on the 1st floor
  • Panera Bread is located on 2nd floor.

Library Hours

During fall and spring semesters, RBD library is open 24 hours a day from Sunday at 1 pm to Friday at 9 pm. Saturday hours are normally 9 am to 6 pm. Hours are subject to change on home football game weekends, holidays, and breaks.

Reference Assistance

The library's reference desk known as the RBD Help Desk is located on the 2nd floor of RBD. It is staffed most days from 8 am to midnight by librarians and/or graduate assistants.

You may also request help through the Ask a Librarian service, http://askalibrarian.auburn.edu/. Chat, email, text, and phone assistance are available during reference desk hours.

Media and Digital Research Lab (MDRL)

The MDRL is located on the 1st floor of the library and  offers equipment and software for creating and printing course-related posters, digital video/audio projects, CDs, and DVDs. It also offers scanning, and graphic design and layout resources. Their friendly staff is always on hand to answer questions or help you use new software or equipment.

Faculty, Staff, and Graduate Students

Item Limit: 100
Loan Periods: 90 days for regular checkouts; 1 day for bound journal checkouts
Renewal Limit: 3  times prior to the due date
Overdue fines/fees: journals, recalled items, reserve items, headphones, wireless computers, power cords, special permission checkouts
Database Access: yes
Document Delivery Privileges: yes

Undergraduate Students

Item Limit: 50
Loan Periods: 28 days for regular checkouts; ineligible for journal checkouts
Renewal Limit: 3  times prior to the due date
Overdue fines/fees: journals, recalled items, reserve items, headphones, wireless computers, power cords, special permission checkouts
Database Access: yes
Document Delivery Privileges: yes

Interlibrary Loan & Document Delivery

AUBIExpress is a service for graduate students, faculty, and staff. This service delivers AU Libraries' print articles and book chapters directly to your desktop. AU libraries offers a courier service that delivers print materials to your office. To request a delivery, go to www.lib.auburn.edu/jcourier.

Alabama Libraries Exchange Service (ALLIES) is a reciprocal loan service between select Alabama Libraries. For instance, if UAB has a book that we don't, you would be able to have it delivered to Auburn. For a list of libraries and more information, visit www.lib.auburn.edu/allies.
