What is EndNote Basic?

It is a free web-based reference manager for storing, editing, and managing up to 50,000 references.

It is the free version of EndNote Web, but lacks the (1) ability to store PDFs; and (2) journal abbreviation look up table; and (3) the ability to edit styles.

With EndNote Basic you can …

Easily add references from online databases or the web
Insert references into Word with the “Cite While You Write” plug-in
Choose from thousands of reference styles (APA, MLA, etc.)
Share references with other EndNote Basic users
