Obtain an Authorization Code
Your instructor may have requested Authorization Codes to hand out in class... alternatively, you may Contact Chris Mixon in the Media & Digital Resource Lab (MDRL) at mixonch@auburn.edu to receive an authorization Code for the software.
You may also obtain an authorization code at the MDRL Help Desk, along with a printed copy of these instructions.
Only ONE copy per authorized user will be issued.
Activate Code & Download the software
Log in to your ESRI Global Account to create a new account if necessary (link below).
Enter the authorization code and click submit.
Select the ArcGIS for Desktop version your class requires.
On the next screen, follow the instructions carefully making sure you have pre-installed all of the prerequisite software listed in step 3. You may also recieve similar instructions via email upon download.
The download is quite large, be sure you have a good connection. Also, be sure to pay attention to where you are downloading the software. I suggest creating a new folder on your desktop and use it.
Install & Authorize the Software
ArcGIS only works in Windows 7 and up. It will only run on a Mac if you are dual booting Windows.
The software cannot be installed on a computer that has a previous version of ArcGIS Desktop or ArcGIS Server installed; if necessary, uninstall previous versions of ArcGIS Desktop or Server. It's OK if the computer has ArcGIS Explorer installed.
