Essential Databases and Search Engines

The best places to search for scientific articles in micro, molecular, and cell biology are listed below. See Off-campus Access tab to download articles.

Why use PubMed?

PubMed is an excellent resource for searching the life science and medical literature.

It indexes more than 23 million citations to scientific articles and books.  Not only will it help you while you're here at AU, it is a great resource after you graduate.  Not all of the databases the library has access to are free to the general public, but PubMed is.

PubMed Central may be even more important to you after you graduate.  It contains free full-text access to over 2.8 million access articles.

Please contact me if you have any questions about using this valuable information source: patricia.hartman@auburn.edu
