Understanding the assignment may help direct you to the right type of resources.

  • You need to research a country before going there to propose a business venture. You need to find out:
    • What is happening in that country?
    • What are important landmarks in that country?
    • What hand gesture or greeting that is normal in the United States would be considered a insult in that country?
    • And many other things.
  • Use reliable sources! Make sure that you will receive good information.
    • Databases provided by the Auburn Libraries provide vetted information.
    • If you can't access the databases, then use a government site.
    • Google and AI may have errors or biases on the basic information.
  • What are reliable resource
    • Country Watch Database -  "Up-to-date information and news on the 191 countries of the world. Includes, key set of political, economic, and business information. Also provides a political and economic survey for each country, updated continuously. Combines breaking country-specific news developments with substantial geopolitical and business background information and data on individual countries"
    • Country Names - Some countries might be part of something bigger or some names might have changed. For example, England is part of the United Kingdom. And so is Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, but not the Republic of Ireland, even though they are nearby.
    • Access World News - newspapers from around the world. Find local information before your visit.
    • CIA Fact Book - useful if you can't connect to these databases.
    • Web Searches - to find local businesses or events.
  • Do you need images for a visual aid?
  • If you use Adobe Express Images, you don't have to worry about copyright issues. As a student, you can use these images in your presentations or papers.
  • If you find an image in an article or webpage, make sure to give credit to the creator. Use the APA Example List for the correct format.
