Information

The boxes below include online tutorials and videos that you can link to or embed directly into your Canvas courses.

Selecting Keywords to Search Tutorial

The Keywords tutorial can be accessed two ways:

  1.  Using the link below, or
  2. Asking a librarian to import it as an Assignment into your Canvas course.

This choice also allows you to determine whether to use it as a graded or ungraded assignment.

It will require that you add a librarian to your course.  If interested, please contact Piper Cumbo.

Note: You will not have access to the individual responses of each student in your course that completes the Canvas assignment. However, you can contact Piper Cumbo who may provide you with the anonymous results of your students’ responses to the activity.

Academic Search Premier Tutorial

There is also a tutorial on using Academic Search Premier. This tutorial can be accessed two ways:

  1.  Using the link below, or
  2. Asking a librarian to import it as an Assignment into your Canvas course.

This choice also allows you to determine whether to use it as a graded or ungraded assignment.

It will require that you add a librarian to your course.  If interested, please contact Piper Cumbo.

Note: At the conclusion of the Keyword tutorial (linked above), there is a direct link to the Academic Search Premier tutorial.

Peer-Review Process Video

"Peer review" refers to the evaluation of academic/scholarly manuscripts by experts working in the same field or academic discipline.  Many, if not most, scholarly articles undergo this process of peer-review before they are accepted for publication.

This 3 minute video created by NCSU Libraries (https://www.lib.ncsu.edu/tutorials/peerreview/) describes peer review in more detail:
