Books, Laptops, & More

Items for Check Out:

To check out books and other materials from the library, present your Auburn University ID card. In addition to books, AU users may check out laptops, headphones, power cords, whiteboard dry erase markers, etc.  The Innovation & Research Commons (1st Floor, RBD Library) has additional technology for check out.


Loan Periods & Renewals

To renew or view items checked out to you (with due dates), login to your library account.

Loan periods for regular checkouts is 90 days, with 3 renewals.  For more details, see Circulation Department policies.


Check out and Return Locations

RBD Library's primary location for check out and return is the Circulation Desk on the 1st Floor, adjacent to the parking deck entrance.  RBD Library also has an exterior book drop located on Mell St., between the Mell Classroom Building and Spidle Hall. Additional book drops are located on the first floor of the Haley Center, the second floor of the Student Center near the Foy Help Desk, and outside between the Lowder Hall parking lot and Wiggins Hall.

Books & Materials from Other Libraries

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) services are your link to materials not owned or subscribed to by AU Libraries:

  • ILL requests can be made through your AU ILLiad account.  After logging in, select "Article/Book Chapter" from the Main Menu options.
  • If an item is not available through ILL, subject librarians can investigate other options with you.

FAQs about this service

Articles & Book Chapters by Email

Get electronic delivery of articles & book chapters from the the Libraries' print collections.  PDFs of these materials will be emailed to you.  Requests  can be made through your ILLiad account

After logging in, select "AUBIExpress" from the Main Menu options.

Campus Delivery Service

Graduate students have two campus delivery options.  You may:

  • request delivery of library materials to your campus office
  • request items be checked out for pick up at the 1st floor atrium of RBD Library (just inside the parking deck entrance)

With the latter "pickup at RBD Library" option, please wait for an email, notifying you that "Items are ready for pickup."
