When using electronic resources off campus, you may encounter authentication issues which can curtail access to the resource.
Access to AU resources
Use of licensed resources on campus by current students, faculty and staff is usually straight forward because you are connecting through the Auburn Network via a wired network. Connecting to AU WiFi routes the user to log into EZproxy.
Access: To access licensed resources, you must be able to authenticate yourself with your AU password AND have an affiliation with Auburn University that permits access to licensed resources. When on-campus, use AU WIFI to access Library e-resources.
Alumni access: If you are an Auburn University alumus, see Alumni Services.
Off campus authentication occurs using a service called EZproxy.
Off Campus / EZproxy
To use EZproxy:
- You need to authenticate with your AU username/password and be authorized to use the licensed resources. You may test your EZproxy access by following this link. When you login with your AU username and password, the library proxy server provides a campus IP address to the requested resource so that access is enabled. You should only have to enter your information once per session.
- Your browser must accept cookies. The EZproxy cookie is not used to track your use, but only to let the proxy server monitor your authenticated status. There are times when the user needs to clear their browser cache. If you share a computer, it is important that you exit the browser so the authentication cookie expires.
Problems: If you cannot authenticate, you may not have access to the licensed resource. Some access is provided by your school or department at Auburn University rather than AU Libraries. Please report problems to https://www.lib.auburn.edu/forms/login-problem-report/.
