LaTeX and Accessibility

To create accessible PDF documents with LaTeX, you will need to use additional LaTeX packages. Screen readers require tags and alt text to properly read LaTeX documents and packages will add these to your document.

To add tags and alt text to the document, add the accessibility package to the preamble:

\usepackage[tagged, highstructure]{accessibility}

To make mathematical formulas accessible in your LaTeX document, add the axessibility package to the preamble:

\usepackage{axessibility}

For more information, see:

Although these packages will help in creating an accessible PDF, be sure and test your document. Creating accessible PDFs from LaTeX is still very much a work in progress.
