Artifical Intelligence (A.I.) Literacy

This LibGuide provides an overview of AI definitions, resources, ethical considerations, and applications of AI in teaching, research, and learning. AI Literacy involves understanding the functions of AI tools, ethical issues related to AI, how to use AI

What is Artificial Intelligence

Artificial Intelligence (AI): The ability of computer systems to perform tasks associated with human intelligence, such as:

  - Learning

  - Reasoning

  - Problem-solving

  - Perception

  - Decision-making

Machine Learning: A component of AI that enables programs to improve their performance on specific tasks automatically.

Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI):  A subset of AI that uses generative models to create content, including:

  - Text

  - Images

  - Videos

  - Audio

  - Software code

Function: Analyzes patterns in training data to generate new data based on natural language prompts.

Examples of large language models include GenAI tools such as ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, Claude, Grok, and DeepSeek.
