LADC Student Employees Guide

This website is intended to provide information regarding the various tasks, duties, and functions performed by student workers at the LADC.

GALLERY KEY CHECK-OUT REQUESTS

  • The LADC now only has a single key for our own use to unlock the gallery in the mornings and lock the gallery at night.
  • If faculty or staff wish to obtain a temporary key to use the Gallery outside of usual hours, they must go request a key from the CADC Dean's Office located on the second floor of Dudley Commons.

LOST AND FOUND DRAWER POLICY

  • Items found unattended in the LADC are to be placed in the Lost and Found drawer
  • Logged all items in the Lost and Found form found in the Lost and Found drawer.
    • Include the date the item was found, who found the item, and a brief description of the item on the form.
  • If a patron is looking for a lost item and we do not have it, you can recommend they check the Lost-and-Founds of the CADC Advisement Office in Dudley Hall, or, if has been a long time that they lost it here, they can check the Lost-and-Found at RBD.
  • At the end of each term, all items from our lost and found are sent to RBD's Lost and Found.
    • Items that are too large for the drawer can be kept for a few days, but are then sent to RBD's Lost and Found.

BOOK DONATIONS

If the patron would like to donate less than ten books:

  • Pull out a donation form from the help desk drawer
  • Ask them to read it carefully and emphasize that Amy will review them before determining where they are placed (in our collection, sent to RBD, on the Adopt-A-Book Shelf, etc.)
  • If they find everything amenable, ask them to fill out the form and return it to you
  • Hand the form to Amy or place it in her mailbox in the staff office should she not be here

If the patron would like to donate more than ten books:

  • They will need to contact Amy before doing so
  • Please hand the patron one of Amy's business cards so that they can set up a brief consultation
  • If there are no business cards, she can also be contacted at add0076@auburn.edu

INVENTORY

* Most Inventory management will happen during the summertime*

When we take inventory at the LADC, we are surveying our collections to ensure we have the items we claim to have. The number of items to be inventoried and the number of people working during the inventory process determines the number of pages prescribed to be completed each shift. It is a simple but tedious procedure that can be handled relatively quickly, given the joint effort of all here at the LADC.

To take inventory...

  • Use the Arch-Inventory printouts to check if the books are on the shelf.

  • If they are, make a check mark (or mark an "X") beside the entry.

  • If the book is not on the shelf, mark an "O" beside the entry.

If you are still looking for the book on the shelf...

  • Check the online catalog to see if the book is currently charged. If it is, mark an "X" through the "O" and write "checked out."

  • If anything else doesn't match up, or if you find a book not on the list, write a brief note to Robert or Amy to let us know, and we will look into it.

  • When you complete a page, please initial at the bottom.
