This website is intended to provide information regarding the various tasks, duties, and functions performed by student workers at the LADC.

Printers

Part of being a student employee at the library will involve assisting patrons with issues that they have with our computers, computer software, printers, and scanners. Familiarize yourself with these assets so that you can provide excellent customer service.

  • Due to campus security and printing policies, Wi-Fi printing is not available.  If a student wishes to print from a device, politely inform them of the policy and advise them to log-on to one of the patron computers to print.
  • Student employees are also encourage to not print non-work related items from the LADC printers.
  • All charges related to printing get charged to the student's e-bill connected with their username and password.

Scanners

Part of being a student employee at the library will involve assisting patrons with issues that they have with our computers, computer software, printers, and scanners. Familiarize yourself with these assets so that you can provide excellent customer service.

BookEye 5 V3 Overhead Scanner

Preferred Settings Per IT:

  • Preservation quality, V-Cradle
  • Change all non-color pages to black and white to reduce file size.

Large-format Contex Quattro Scanner (44" width)

  • Follow the instructions next to the connected computer.
  • Place the item in the center of the Quattro Scanner
  • Follow the instructions to locate file folder with the scanned item(s).

Click here to watch the demo for the Contex Quattro Scanner.

Tips:

  • If the scanner says, "The scanning was interrupted", them means that the patrons' document is not alighted with the front edge of the scanner. Align the patron's item with the front edge of the scanner and try again.  The red line detects the item and must detect a document to begin scanning.
  • To delete a scan, tap the "X" button twice.
  • The BookEye scanner does not involve a computer to use, so refer patrons in a hurry or without log-in credentials to the BookEye scanner.
  • The BookEye scanner can also save your document as a QR code so that a patron can immediately see and save their scans on their phones or devices.

Tips:

  • We have a large plastic cover that patrons can use to protect both their scans and the large format scanner from smearing pencil sketches.  We are not responsible for smeared patron items and we must open and clean the Context Quattro Scanner if it becomes dirty.
  • Have patrons place their documents in the center of the Contex Quatro scanner as per the markings on the scanner.
  • Use the buttons on the right of the machine to "grab" their document before scanning.
