LADC Student Employees Guide

This website is intended to provide information regarding the various tasks, duties, and functions performed by student workers at the LADC.

Why Was I Charged For Printing?

The LADC is owned, operated, and funded entirely by Auburn Libraries and follows all pricing policies of AU libraries.

Students who pay technologies fees to their colleges (such as students in Architecture and Environmental Design) can only receive free printing through printers specified by their colleges.  These locations DO NOT include the library printers at this time since those colleges do not fund any of the ink or printers of the library.

Prices from library printers are 10¢ for black and white prints per page and 50¢ for color prints per page per AU Libraries policy.

Can I Use My Own Paper in the Printer?

Not at this time. The last time someone used their own paper it jammed the printer multiple times while others patrons were waiting.

If this policy changes, the patrons need to know that they will still be charged the same amount since they are still using the LADC's ink which is the largest cost.  If the paper is thicker or of an abnormal size, show them how to use the side paper insert.  Thick paper never goes in the bottom tray!

Can I Post My Flyers Inside the LADC?

Only official LADC posters and signage is allowed to be posted inside the LADC.  If colleges, groups, or students wish to post flyers they are welcome to do so int the Lobby.

Can We Adjust the Temperature?

Almost always, the answer will be "No".  Unless there is an issue that has dramatically changed the temperature, based on the layout and design of the library, the upper floor will usually be warmer and the lower floor will be cooler.  If patrons are uncomfortable, recommend they swap floors accordingly or they are welcome to make use of the tables outside in the lobby.

Can We Allow Patrons to Use Our Phone?

Yes. Patrons are allowed to briefly use the LADC's phone at the desk to call someone.

  • Never let a patron use your private phone to protect your privacy and property.
  • Patrons cannot leave the library while using the phone
  • Patrons should not have extended, long conversations
  • Patrons should not make international calls
